# PiPic Image Compressor > PiPic Image Compressor is a free online image compressor for PNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF, with an agent-ready CLI for scripts, CI and coding agents. ## What is PiPic PiPic Image Compressor is a free online image compressor for PNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF, with an agent-ready CLI for scripts, CI and coding agents. ## Core capabilities - Compressing images on pipic.cc is 100% free and unlimited — no account or sign-up required - Batch compression — up to 100 images at once, 8 MB per file - Supports JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF — same format in, same format out - Before/after size comparison for every file, with exact savings shown - Download a single file or the whole batch as one zip - Images are processed and deleted immediately after compression — never stored long-term - The PiPic CLI (@pipic/cli on npm, Node 20+) lets AI agents and build scripts compress images from the command line — NDJSON output and stable exit codes for parsing. It runs inside coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Windsurf, and in CI - A single command — `npx skills add PiPic-cc/pipic-cli -g` — installs a pipic skill into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and around 70 other coding agents. After that the agent finds and runs pipic on its own from a plain-English request, without being told the tool name or the flags - CLI and API usage runs on a monthly allowance, separate from the web compressor: Free gives 100 images per month, Pro is $9/month for 5,000. Web compression is never counted against it - Authentication supports a user-bound OAuth Device Grant for autonomous agents. The user approves only the first time; the agent then rotates refresh tokens without another prompt. There is no anonymous or service-owned token. Existing CLI per-machine login and user-created PIPIC_TOKEN credentials remain supported ## Key pages - [Home / compressor](https://pipic.cc/): free online image compressor for JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF - [About PiPic](https://pipic.cc/about): official identity and the relationship between the browser compressor, PiPic Agent CLI and HTTP API - [Compress PNG](https://pipic.cc/compress-png): PNG-specific compressor — transparency preserved, typical 60-80% savings - [Compress JPG](https://pipic.cc/compress-jpg): JPG/JPEG photo compressor — no visible quality loss - [Compress WebP](https://pipic.cc/compress-webp): re-optimizes already-efficient WebP files for extra savings - [Compress AVIF](https://pipic.cc/compress-avif): free online AVIF compressor — reduce AVIF file size in batches while keeping the same dimensions and AVIF format - [CLI](https://pipic.cc/cli): install @pipic/cli to compress images from scripts, CI and AI agents — the one-command skill install for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and ~70 other agents, plus commands, flags, exit codes, the NDJSON contract, and a copy-paste prompt that asks your agent to set it up for you - [OpenAPI spec](https://pipic.cc/openapi.json): machine-readable OpenAPI 3.1 description of POST /compress/image — the raw HTTP endpoint behind the CLI, for agents and scripts that can't run Node - [Agent authentication](https://pipic.cc/auth.md): OAuth Device Grant with PKCE, one-time approval by a signed-in user, silent refresh-token rotation, revocation, and the explicit rule that every credential belongs to that user - [Pricing](https://pipic.cc/pricing): the plan matrix — web compression is free and unlimited for everyone; only CLI/API usage is metered (Free 100 images a month, Pro $9 for 5,000) - [Privacy policy](https://pipic.cc/privacy): what data PiPic collects and how uploaded images are handled - [Terms of service](https://pipic.cc/terms): the terms that govern use of the free service - [Contact](https://pipic.cc/contact): contact@pipic.cc for general enquiries, privacy@pipic.cc for data requests - [Reproducible image-compression dataset](https://pipic.cc/benchmarks/2026-q3/): licensed PNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF inputs, exact PiPic Agent CLI 1.0.6 and sharp 0.35.3 commands, 72 raw runs, three-run medians, retained failures and visual checks ## Blog - [PiPic Blog](https://pipic.cc/blog): notes on image compression, web performance and building tools for designers and their agents. The ones that count images almost all stop at twenty, and the best known of them rejects anything over 5 MB. ## FAQ **Which formats can I compress?** JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF — same format in, same format out, covering everything the modern web runs on. **How many images can I compress at once?** Up to 100 images per batch, with each file up to 8 MB. Need more? Just run another batch — it stays free. **What happens to my images?** Your images are uploaded securely, compressed, and deleted immediately afterward. We don't keep copies, share them, or use them for anything else. **Will quality noticeably drop?** We tune the default for a near-invisible loss. You keep the original dimensions and can always re-download the source. **Is it really free?** Yes — PiPic is 100% free with no sign-up. Compress as many images as you like. ## Format-specific FAQ **Does compressing a PNG remove its transparency?** No. The alpha channel is preserved through compression, so transparent backgrounds and soft edges look exactly the same afterwards. **How much smaller will my PNG get?** It depends on the image, but 60–80% savings are typical for screenshots, logos and UI graphics. You see the exact number for every file before downloading. **Is the result still a normal PNG file?** Yes — you get a standard .png back with the same dimensions, ready to use anywhere a PNG works. **Will my JPG lose quality when compressed?** JPG compression is lossy by nature, but PiPic keeps the loss below the visible threshold at normal viewing sizes. Keep your originals for archival work; use the compressed copy for web, email and sharing. **What's the difference between JPG and JPEG?** None — they are the same format. ".jpg" is just the old three-letter spelling of ".jpeg". PiPic handles both. **Do the image dimensions change?** No. Width and height stay exactly the same — only the file size shrinks. **Is it worth compressing WebP if the format is already efficient?** Usually yes. Export settings tend to be conservative, so re-optimizing typically saves another chunk of the file size with no visible difference. **Does the output stay WebP?** Yes — WebP in, optimized WebP out, with the same dimensions and transparency handled cleanly. **Should I use WebP instead of JPG or PNG?** For the web, usually yes: WebP is smaller at the same quality and supported by every modern browser. PiPic compresses all four formats, so you can optimize whatever your project already uses. **Can I reduce AVIF file size further?** Usually. AVIF export settings are often conservative, so recompressing can remove more bytes. PiPic keeps the original when a compressed result would not be smaller. **Does the output stay AVIF?** Yes — AVIF in, optimized AVIF out, at the same dimensions. The format never changes on you. **Should I use AVIF instead of WebP or JPG?** AVIF is a strong choice for modern browsers, especially for photographic images. If you support older software, keep a WebP or JPG fallback. PiPic compresses each format without converting it. ## Brand & contact - Name: PiPic - Full name: PiPic Image Compressor - Official developer tool: PiPic Agent CLI (`@pipic/cli`) - Website: https://pipic.cc/ - [GitHub organization](https://github.com/PiPic-cc): official PiPic source-code organization - [npm package](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@pipic/cli): official PiPic Agent CLI package - Contact: contact@pipic.cc - Languages: English (https://pipic.cc/), 中文 (https://pipic.cc/zh/), 日本語 (https://pipic.cc/ja/), Español (https://pipic.cc/es/), Deutsch (https://pipic.cc/de/)
